The places people grew up are significant to the development of the person they’re today. In my life travelling from state to state has helped develop me into a more understanding person of how the world works in different ways. In my travels of moving from Hawaii, Maryland, California and now Florida, I have been engulfed in all the United States has to offer from these very different places. The travels I took were built upon the culture, the sights, and the education from these states. The misconception of the United States is that it is titled â€Å"white.† While the United States does have a fair amount of white citizens, it thrives on its diversity of cultures. While living in Maryland I was quickly captured by the African American heritage. Lots of soul food and lots of family parties. Answer: Introduction Human development is a process that takes place This paper applies Erik Erikson's Stages of Psychosocial Development; Jean Piaget's theory of cognitive development; Sigmund Freuds Psychoanalytic Stages of Human Growth and Development; Lawrence Kohlberg's Stages of Moral Development; Lev Vygotskys Social Development Theory; Albert Banduras Social Learning Theory; and John Bowlby Attachment Theory to present a critical Individual Development Narrative of the developments that I went through during my prenatal, infancy, childhood, middle childhood, and adolescent stages. During each of these stages, I underwent growth in different domains. Growth at each stage took a different dimension because it was influenced by differing factors. For instance, during my infancy stage, I developed cognitively. My mental capacity was expanding as I grew up because it is a necessary occurrence in human life. The development of my cognitive abilities can be explained using the Piagets theory of cognitiv e development. Prenatal Stage The first stage that I went through is prenatal. This stage occurred right after my conception up to birth. The prenatal stage occurred before I was born. Meaning, I was not able to interact with other people because I had not been born. Since there were no people around me, I could only interact with the environment enclosed within the uterus (Sigelman Rider, 2014). However, I mainly developed physically because of the cell division and metabolic changes in my body. For me to develop well during this stage, I had to have a good attachment with my mother. My parent had to observe recommended maternal care because it would determine my growth and development even after birth. If provided with a healthy environment, I would enjoy a well-being both before and after birth. One of the things that the mother was supposed to do during my prenatal stage is the use of a healthy and balanced diet because I had to solely rely on her as the source of food. The food that my mother had eaten would be transmitted to me through the placenta. Therefore, it had to be nutritious. At the same time, my mother was supposed to engage in physical exercises and refrain from harmful behaviors like smoking and alcoholism because they would interfere with my physical and cognitive growth (Booth, Crouter Snyder, 2015). For example, my mother narrated to me a story that when after my conception, she did not engage in alcoholism or smoking. At the same time, she used to eat a balanced diet which enabled her to provide me with good nourishment. If my mother engaged in alcoholism, I would be exposed to congenital diseases that would impair my cognitive and physical development. There is no theory that can be used to justify the moral, social and psychological changes during this stage. The dominant domain during this stage was physical. Infancy Infancy is the second stage that I went through. It followed the prenatal stage and lasted for 2 years right from my birth. Infancy differs from the prenatal stage because during the infancy stage, human beings undergo a lot of changes in their growth. Research has proven that once a child is born, it starts to progressively develop physically, cognitively, psychologically, and socially (McAdams Zapata-Gietl, 2015). Physical development naturally occurs because a child is provided with the necessary nourishments that can enhance growth. At the same time, mental growth happens since the child is exposed to the environment with which it interacts (Batra, 2013). Emotional growth take center-stage during this period because a child appears t portrays behaviors like sadness and happiness. The changes can be explained using the theory of attachment because I was still attached to my parents from whom I acquired knowledge. According to Jean Piaget, human beings undergo a cognitive development during the infancy stage. Infancy stage is equated to Piagets sensory motor stage which also lasts from birth up to 24 months (Beckett Taylor, 2016). So, I had to undergo a similar experience because I was interacting with my immediate environment. I also developed psychologically because, as Freud explains in his psychoanalytic theory, infants use their oral and anal simulations to acquire psychological traits that end up defining whom they become as they grow up (Grusec Lytton, 2012). I was a happy child during my infancy because I developed a good attachment with my mother. In order to ensure that we were attached, my mother did not go for work during my childhood. Instead, she spent her time at home to enable me to breastfeed and get used to her. This attachment was very important because it enabled me to live healthily. It made me to develop good emotional skills that would later influence me. As Erickson and Vygotsky exclaim, I had to rely on my immediate environment to determine my moral and social development. The changes can be explained using the attachment and social learning theories because I was learning from my parents and immediate surroundings. Socio-cultural and emotion were the main domains of growth during this stage. I however disagree with the attachment theory because it did not work well with me all the time. At times, I tended to detach from my parents when I was punished by my parents. Early Childhood Stage Early childhood is the third stage that I went through in my growth cycle. During this stage which basically lasted between the age of 2 and 4 years, I developed cognitively, morally, and psychologically. Cognitive development took place during my early childhood because, as explained by Piaget, children who are 2-4 years are categorized as preoperational or toddlerhood. Here, the children develop cognitively because as they continue interacting with their surrounding, the children can manage to construct symbolic meanings of the objects they see. The children are also able to develop a language, imagination, and memory on which they rely to understand the environment. The changes in these skills are justified by the social learning theory. Cognitive growth is the most dominant domain during this stage of growth. Early childhood stage also gives children an opportunity to develop psychologically. During each of these stages, a child interacts with the environment and manages to develop character traits based on how successful the interaction is (Shapiro Margolin, 2014). A child who undergoes through these stages can end up becoming respectful disobedient, punctual, lazy, dirty, or tidy (Booth, Crouter Snyder, 2015). I think my early childhood experiences influenced my personality. I have grown up to be a respectful person because of the success in the training I received during this stage. Social learning theory justifies these changes. However, sometimes I disagree with this theory because it might result into the acquisition of negative behaviors that are unacceptable in the society. During the early childhood stage, I also developed socially. I remember living in a house with my mother, caretaker, father and siblings. Each of these people influenced my growth because we used to interact with them. For example, my mother who was very close to me enabled me to develop good morals, skills and emotions. My mother taught me lots of lessons which influenced by development. This is what happened to me because I have learnt to be an autonomous individual who does not necessarily rely on the support of other people. This shows that I had a good experience that prepared me to develop healthily (Kivnick Wells, 2014). Since Kohlberg says that early childhood is a pre-conventional stage in which a child learns morality because it is expected to abide by the moral standards of the society taught by the parents (Carr, 2015). However, Kohlbergs theory did not apply to me the way it is explained. Sometimes, I acquired immoral acts that were not in agreement with the Kohlbergs s tages of moral development. Middle Childhood Middle childhood is the third stage in human growth and development. The middle childhood stage which occurs between the age of 5 and 12 years is a stage in which the children are expanding their social environment because they no longer need to be confined into their respective houses under the care of the parents and care takers, but have to be allowed to interact with other people such as teachers, class mates, friends, siblings, and community members (Newman Newman, 2014). During the middle childhood stage, the children go through a rapid cognitive, psychological, moral, and social development as explained by the social learning theory. Emotional growth is the most dominant domain in this stage of growth. According to Freud, middle childhood is closely related to the latency stage which lasts between the ages of 5 years up to puberty. During this stage, Freud established that a child develops psychologically because it is a time when energy is spent in schools. Although no fixation occurs during this stage, children still get a chance to develop as time goes by (Patton, et al., 2016). While at school, children get an opportunity to interact with others and acquire behaviors that can end up determining whom they become in the future. Personally, I had to undergo through this process because when I reached school-going age, I was taken to school where I send my entire energy in playing and learning to acquire important life skills (Funder, 2015). The other change that takes place during middle childhood stage is the acquisition of cognitive skills. Personally, I successfully went through the middle childhood stage. During this stage, I was balancing my time between our house and school. I got to learn lots of behaviors from the people with whom I was interacting. For example, when I was in school, I had to learn the morals of the society by complying with all the rules and regulations given to me. At the same time, I spent time participating in games and the physical activities from which I learnt certain rules. When growing up, I had to experience this because I ended up developing the initiative aspect of Eriks explanation. It made me to be me to be an innovative child who could perfectly fit into the environment (Dale Smith, 2013). I dont think that the Ericksons theory applied to me during this stage. I did not experience what he says in his theory. Adolescence Adolescence is a stage which lasts from the age of 12 and 20 years. All the children who are in this age bracket have to undergo adolescence, a stage in which they experience changes in their physical, biological, moral, and psychological development (Batra, 2013). It is at this stage that I enjoyed all the domains of development because my growth was at exponential stage. In terms of cognitive development, Piaget explains that adolescents can use their mind to make logical arguments which can be relied upon to justify their actions and make abstract decisions (Day, et al., 2014). From my own narrative, I would like to point out that I successfully went through the adolescent stage because it enabled me to develop my cognitive skills to be a rational child who could make reasonable decisions. The changes in my behavior and emotions can be explained by social learning theory. In terms of moral and social development, it is undeniable that adolescence is a stage in which children acquire lots of skills to use their day-to-day endeavors. According to Kohlberg, adolescence stage is synonymous to the conventional stage in which the adolescents in which the children can reason morally in compliance with the societal norms and standards. I was influenced by my environment because I was able to behave morally and do things in a right way because I had already known to differentiate morality from immorality (Grusec Lytton, 2012). My adolescence stage was brought many changes in my life. My development during adolescence conformed with Freuds theory because I tended to be attracted to the members of the opposite sex. Conclusion Human being is a living organism that undergoes a series of developmental stages. The process which begins after conception continues through the infancy, childhood, middle age, adolescence, young adulthood, adulthood, and elderly stages. During each of these stages, human being undergo different changes in its physical, cognitive, moral, social, and emotional growth. It is for this reason that people behave differently in each of these stages. The development of human beings can be explained using a number of theories that have been developed by scholars. These include the Stages of Psychosocial Development; theory of cognitive development; Psychoanalytic Stages of Human Growth and Development; Stages of Moral Development; Social Development Theory; Social Learning Theory; and Attachment Theory. "The Origin Of Humanity? We live on a planet believed to be 4.5 billion years of age with millions of people covering all parts of it. Where did they come from? Did the whole human population originate from one of people or were we placed here and then improved or changed by an intervention? I believe that humanity on planet earth was created by evolution. Both the creationist and interventionist theories seem to far fetched to be accountable theories for the creation of humanity on planet earth. There are a lot more questions that remain unanswered such as if spacemen put us on earth why didn't they bother to teach humans anything? And if the creationist theory were accurate why can't God control natural disasters on his planet? He is so clever to create everything known to mankind why doesn't he make the perfect world if he had that much control? There seems to be quite a bit more sustantial evidence on earth to support the theory of evolution. The evidence is holds up more becaus e actual samples of fossils have been collected and scientifically tested using a method called carbon dating to determine the age of the fossils. Which can then be examined and placed along a timeline. The time periods show slight differences in bone structure showing what is hypothesized to be the human evolving. Evolving from what though? The theory of evolution states that creatures change overtime to suit their surroundings. This is called environmental adaptation. The more a creature can adapt to it's environment the greater chance it has of living and show an increase in population called survival of the fittest. A theory developed by a scientist nammed Charles Darwin who had conducted extensive research into the environmental adaptions of animals, for example the adaptation of the galapagos turtles from short neck to long neck so they could reach their food. This theory helps to prove the theory that humans evolved from apes so they could increase their chances of survival. We live on a planet believed to be 4.5 billion years of age with millions of people covering all parts of it. Where did they come from? Did the whole human population originate from one of people or were we placed here and then improved or changed by an intervention? I believe that humanity on planet earth was created by evolution. Both the creationist and interventionist theories seem to far fetched to be accountable theories for the creation of humanity on planet earth. There are a lot more questions that remain unanswered such as if spacemen put us on earth why didn't they bother to teach humans anything? And if the creationist theory were accurate why can't God control natural disasters on his planet? He is so clever to create everything known to mankind why doesn't he make the perfect world if he had that much control? The evidence is holds up more becaus e actual samples of fossils have been collected and scientifically tested using a method called carbon dating to determine the age of the fossils. Which can then be examined and placed along a timeline. The time periods show slight differences in bone structure showing what is hypothesized to be the human evolving. Evolving from what though? The Battle of Palo Alto The Battle of Palo Alto: The Battle of Palo Alto (May 8, 1846) was the first major engagement of the Mexican-American War. Although the Mexican army was significantly larger than the American force, American superiority in weapons and training carried the day. The battle was a victory for the Americans and began a long series of defeats for the beleaguered Mexican Army. The American Invasion: By 1845, war between the USA and Mexico was inevitable. America coveted Mexicos western holdings, such as California and New Mexico, and Mexico was still furious about the loss of Texas ten years before. When the USA annexed Texas in 1845, there was no going back: Mexican politicians railed against American aggression and fired the nation into a patriotic frenzy. When both nations sent armies to the disputed Texas/Mexico border in early 1846, it was only a matter of time before a series of skirmishes were used as an excuse for both nations to declare war. Zachary Taylors Army: The American forces on the border were commanded by General Zachary Taylor, a skilled officer who would eventually become President of the United States. Taylor had some 2,400 men, including infantry, cavalry and the new flying artillery squads. The flying artillery was a new concept in warfare: teams of men and cannons who could change positions on a battlefield rapidly. The Americans had high hopes for their new weapon, and they would not be disappointed. Mariano Aristas Army: General Mariano Arista was confident that he could defeat Taylor: his 3,300 troops were among the best in the Mexican army. His infantry was supported by cavalry and artillery units. Although his men were ready for battle, there was unrest. Arista had recently been given the command over General Pedro Ampudia and there was much intrigue and infighting in the Mexican officer ranks. The Road to Fort Texas: Taylor had two locations to worry about: Fort Texas, a recently-built fort on the Rio Grande near Matamoros, and Point Isabel, where his supplies were. General Arista, who knew he had overwhelming numerical superiority, was looking to catch Taylor in the open. When Taylor took most of his army to Point Isabel to reinforce his supply lines, Arista set a trap: he began bombarding Fort Texas, knowing Taylor would have to march to its aid. It worked: on May 8, 1846, Taylor marched only to find Arista’s army in a defensive stance blocking the road to Fort Texas. The first major battle of the Mexican-American War was about to begin. Artillery Duel: Neither Arista nor Taylor seemed willing to make the first move, so the Mexican army began firing its artillery at the Americans. The Mexican guns were heavy, fixed and used inferior gunpowder: reports from the battle say the cannonballs traveled slowly enough and far enough for the Americans to dodge them when they came. The Americans answered with artillery of their own: the new â€Å"flying artillery† cannons had a devastating effect, pouring shrapnel rounds into the Mexican ranks. The Battle of Palo Alto: General Arista, seeing his ranks ripped apart, sent his cavalry after the American artillery. The horsemen were met with concerted, deadly cannon fire: the charge faltered, then retreated. Arista tried to send infantry after the cannons, but with the same result. About this time, a smoky brush fire broke out in the long grass, shielding the armies from one another. Dusk fell about the same time as the smoke cleared, and the armies disengaged. The Mexicans retreated seven miles to a gulch known as Resaca de la Palma, where the armies would battle again the following day. Legacy of the Battle of Palo Alto: Although the Mexicans and Americans had been skirmishing for weeks, Palo Alto was the first major clash between large armies. Neither side won the battle, as the forces disengaged as dusk fell and the grass fires went out, but in terms of casualties it was a win for the Americans. The Mexican army lost some 250 to 500 dead and wounded to about 50 for the Americans. The biggest loss for the Americans was the death in battle of Major Samuel Ringgold, their best artilleryman and a pioneer in the development of the lethal flying infantry. The battle decisively proved the worth of the new flying artillery. The American artillerymen practically won the battle by themselves, killing enemy soldiers from afar and driving back attacks. Both sides were surprised at the effectiveness of this new weapon: in the future, the Americans would try to capitalize on it and the Mexicans would try to defend against it. The early win greatly boosted the confidence of the Americans, who were essentially a force of invasion: they knew they would be fighting against huge odds and in hostile territory for the rest of the war. As for the Mexicans, they learned that they would have to find some way to neutralize the American artillery or run the risk of repeating the results of the Battle of Palo Alto. Harvey’s argument is supported by the decrease of real wages in the poorer sectors of neoliberal economies like the United States and the massive wealth increases of the economic elite. In his view, Harvey refers to this type of wealth distribution as accumulation by dispossession and goes on to state that this is how neoliberalism has managed to redistribute wealth and considers it a transition to the onset of capitalism. Among th e main aspects of this one sided wealth redistribution are monetization, privatization, state redistributions, commodification and the management by manipulation of crises. Harvey presents a brief history of neoliberalism where he point out that before its existence the political economy was dominated by embedded liberalism which was a form of capitalism. His assumption of neoliberalism is that it is quite extremist in its operation and if unchecked will be unruly because of socialism failure to develop a reliable model. This report is to provide insight on nefarious computer activities called ping sweeps and port scans as a request from management. I will identify them, explain what they are use for, how they are used and how to stop them from attacking a network. Finally I will discuss how they can be eliminated as security risk. The information in this report is designed to increase the understanding and knowledge of these two activities so that this company’s IT department will be in a better position to recognize them and block potential attacks from their use. According to S. Branch (2012), in his article What is a Ping Sweep he says â€Å"A ping sweep, also called an Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) sweep, is a diagnostic technique used in computing to see what range of (IP) addresses are in use by live host, which are usually computers†. Ping sweeps are not unusual, they are often used by administrators in diagnosing network issues; however, hackers also use ping sweeps to find active computers so they will know where to concentrate their attacks. This can become a serious security breach for an unprepared network. Hackers send not one ping but many packets at the same time. This tends to slow down a network. When the hackers ping sweep finds an active computer it can send request for confidential information. There is no reason to be alarmed by ping sweeps because the solution for stopping them is very simple. The system administrator only need to disable ICMP packets and if the system administrator wants to do a ping sweep, just enable the ICMP packets temporarily. According to S. Branch (2012), â€Å"ping sweeps are older and slower technology, and are not in use as much as in the past†. A port scan attack is a popular reconnaissance technique that attackers use to discover services they can break into according to Yahoo Answers (2007), Author unknown. Yahoo Answers states that â€Å"All machines connected to a network run many services that use TCP or UDP ports and there are more than 6000 defined ports available. Normally port scan does not make direct damage just by port scanning. Potentially a port scan helps the attacker find which ports are available to launch various attacks†. A port scan sends a message  to each port one at a time. The response received back indicates whether the port is being used and if so, the port will be probed for weakness. TCP ports are the most attacked ports because they are connected oriented and give good feedback to the attacker. The most frequent port scan attacks to look for are: Stealth Scan, which is design to be undetected by auditing tools, SOCKS, which allows multiple machines to share a common internet connection, easy access when not configured correctly. Bounce Scans, are systems that they can bounce their attacks through. These systems are FTP server, Email server, HTTP Proxy, Finger and others. These all have vulnerabilities to do bounce scans. They also use UDP ports to find open ports, but it is not often used because it is easily blocked. Port Scan attacks can be reduced or completely solved by deploying Firewalls at critical locations of a network to filter unwanted traffic. There is also Port Scan Attack Detectors (PSAD) on the market for free use. In the fast developing world of computer technologies there will always be hackers and other types looking for ways to still. The Writing Journey Aint Fast Recently I told yall about my sons new stray, adopted from the shelter. Hes good at training pups, and so his journey begins with Lucy. His other dog, Harper, has all sorts of commands and tricks under her belt, and was a quick study, but Lucy? Well, just consider her the second child . . . the one that teaches you as a parent that everything you learned about raising a child doesnt necessarily work. Im rather proud of his online journal, but then.hes my son. But the point is Lucy  is a two steps forward and one step back sort of pup. The methods my son  used to train Harper arent necessarily working on Lucy. Too often we think of our writing as a positive process. One where we write when we like, only about ideas we love, with the end results being a beautiful story the world will adore. Not the case at all. Good writing . . . writing that comes across as effortless in reading . . . is the result of hard, heart-breaking struggle. But lets say you wrote your first book, enjoyed the process, then started on the second. You figure you have this routine worked out now that youre published. Like having children and raising pups, you soon learn that no two books are alike. They differ. Boy, do they differ. You get frustrated. You want to quit, but if you are responsible and diligent in writing, you weather through it. You learn the new tricks necessary. You develop new habits.  The end result is a product youre proud of and additional  skills. And if you move on to book three, youll feel like youve adopted yet another stray, and all your previous magic   just doesnt work. You search for yet another way to write a good story. Deep Vein thrombosis is one of the common diseases. However, majority of the patients in this category are eligible for treatment under HITH instead of keeping them in traditional hospitalization mode. The doctors attending such patients take immediate steps but it is patients whoa re required to take future steps to avoid aggravation. They need doctor’s advice at regular intervals not at all times during the day. HITH is best suitable for them as it will ensure that blood thinners are given as directed. HITH will help the patients to look for excessive bleeding because of blood thinners or due to cuts or bruise. Taking medication for Anticoagulation during HITH is mandatory and can help patients to avoid seriousness. Can you see any disadvantages of such a program? There are disadvantages of HITH but because of number of amendments and strict regulations the risks have been mitigated to large extent. Majority of the diseases can become serious and unless immediate steps are not initiated this can become fatal. The cost effectiveness can lead to deterioration in services. Overall, do you think such a program could result in better health outcomes? The biggest advantage of HITH is providing medication to patients in their own homes instead of hospitals and reduces huge costs in this action. The special training imparted to HITH to include intravenous therapy (mainly antibiotics), anticoagulation, wound care and chemotherapy for suitable patients in their own homes. The only challenge is selection of patients that are eligible. The disadvantage is that method can include the development of complications, anaphylaxis and patient or family anxiety. However, in appropriate cases, hospital in the home is effective and safe. Above all it is highly cost effective for individuals and country as there will be less infrastructure expenses by Governments.
